General Information – click to viewAbout: This tour covers among the most enchanting festivals of Northeast India, Aoling Festivals and Mopin festivals. The Aoling Festival (sometimes spelt as Aoleng) is a festival celebrated by the Konyak Naga Tribal people and held in the first week of April in the Mon district of Nagaland. The Konyak people are the largest of 17 officially recognized tribes in Nagaland and are the most well known due to their tradition of head hunting. The Aoling Festival celebrates the arrival of spring and prays for a good upcoming harvest. The celebrations are held in the first week of April and coincide with the start of the Konyak New Year. During Aoling festivals, the Konyaks perform different rituals like animal sacrifices, agriculture related activities, dancing and feasting. One day is also reserved for cleaning the houses and the village. The Mopin festival is an important festival of Galo Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh which is celebrated in the month of April every year. It is celebrated with much gaiety for wealth, good health and universal happiness. As a matter of fact, festivals are mirror of people’s culture. Such festivals are celebrated at a large scale for thanking gods for their providence and for a bumper crops. During the Mopin festival, smearing rice powder in each other faces marks the beginning of the festival and animal sacrifices are the ritual of the Mopin festival. Another feature of the Mopin festival is that a dance known as Popir is performed in a very elegant way. They dance on their best Traditional Costumes and adorn themselves with multi-colored beaded ornaments. During this festival rice wine (apong) is served, prepared by the women of Galo Community.
Day 1, 31st March: Arrive at Dibrugarh Airport
Post arrival at Dibrugarh airport directly move to Hotel. Remaining time is free for you in Dibrugarh. Hotel: Mid Range Overnight Accommodation: Jungle Lodge/Standard.
Day 2, 1st April: Dibrugarh to Mon of Nagaland, 150 Kms/5 Hours
Post breakfast, drive to Mon of Nagaland. Check into Hotel/Lodge. Afternoon, if time permits, visit nearby Mon Villages. Today is the 1st Day of Aoling festivals. Hotel: Basic but neat & clean.
Day 3, 2nd April: : Day Trip to Longwa and Langmeang
After early Breakfast, we drive to Longwa Village situated on the India-Myanmar border to observe the festival there. Experience the rural atmosphere of palm-roofed Konyak houses and encounter old village folk with tattoos on their faces and bodies. From here we drive to Langmeang village. Evening at Mon to enjoy the festival. Hotel: Basic but neat & clean.
Day 4, 3rd April: In Mon
Full day in Mon for sightseeing. Hotel: Basic but neat & clean.
Day 5, 4th April: Mon to Dibrugarh of Assam
Post breakfast drive to Shangnyu and visit the traditional Konyak village. Drive back to Dibrugarh. Check in hotel and overnight stay. Hotel: Mid Range
Day 6, 5th April: Move to Along of Arunachal Pradesh (1 Hour ferry, Drive 185 kms, 7 Hours)
Early morning board a ferry and sail across the mighty River Brahmaputra. Then drive to Along in Arunachal Pradesh. Brief entry formalities at the Assam – Arunachal Pradesh border and drive on to Basar village on the way to Along. Basar is a traditional stronghold of the Adi-Gallongs. Late afternoon, if time permits, observe the MOPIN festival being celebrated by the villagers. Check into hotel on arrival. Hotel: Standard
Day 7, 6th April:In Along
Full day at Along. Walk in Adi Villages and experience their customs and traditions. Enjoy Mopin festivals. Hotel: Standard
Day 8, 7th April: Along to Daporijo ( 160 kms, 5 Hours drive)
Post breakfast, drive to Daporijo. On the way, stop at Tagin and Miri Tribal Village. Check in hotel and overnight stay. Hotel: Standard
Day 9, 8th April:Daporijo to Ziro, 130 kms/ 4 Hours.
After breakfast, drive to Ziro. At 5000 feet, this is the highest place on this tour. Spend the afternoon visiting Apatani tribal villages and the local market. Check in at your hotel and stay overnight in Ziro. Hotel: Standard
Day 10, 9th April: In Ziro
Spend the day in Apatani and Nishi Tribal Villages, Museum and Handicraft Centre. Overnight. Hotel: Standard
Day 11, 10th April: Kaziranga in Assam (350 Kms, 8 Hours drive)
Drive to plains of Assam. By evening reach Kaziranga NP and overnight stay. Hotel: Mid Range
Day 12, 11th April:In Kaziranga NP
Avail early morning Elephant Back safari. Afternoon, avail one Round Jeep safari inside the National Park. Overnight stay. Hotel: Mid Range

Day 13, 12th April: Kaziranga to Guwahati Airport dropping (5 Hours)
This day drive to Guwahati Airport to catch afternoon flight for onward journey.
