Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Birding Tour

Destinations: Namdapha Tiger Reserve, Digboi Oil Field, Kaziranga NP, Nameri NP, Guwahati Airport

Day 1: At Dibrugarh Airport

Our tour manager will welcome you at Dibrugarh airport and transfer to hotel in Tinsukia (1 hour drive). Overnight.


Day 2:  Tinsukia to Namdapha NP (Arunachal Pradesh), 5 to 6 hours drive.

Morning move to Namdapha National Park. Overnight at forest rest house or camp in Namdapha NP. Namdapha is one of the excellent National Parks in India located in the eastern end of Arunachal bordering Myanmar. Covering an area of about 2000, Namdapha is a Project Tiger and it is reputed for harbouring all the four big Himalayan cats: Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard and Snow Leopard. With altitudes ranging from 200 mtr to over 4500 mtr (accessible up to 850 mtr), the park has a habitat of tropical, temperate & alpine forests.

Namdapha’s great altitudinal variations have resulted in a great diversity of birds. It has a collection of about 350 species of birds.


Day 3: At Namdapha NP

Whole day birding (trek) around Deban camp with river side. Overnight.


Day 4: At Namdapha NP

Deban camp to Haldhibari (6 kms). Trek. Overnight in tents.


Day 5:  At Namdapha NP

Trek to Hornbill point ( 6 kms). Overnight in tents.


Day 6: At Namdapha NP

Trek to Bulbulia Point (3 kms). Overnight and stay at tents.


Day 7: At Namdapha NP

Bulbulia to Haldhibari. Trek. Overnight in tents.


Day 8: At Namdapha NP

Haldhibari to Deban camp. Trek. Overnight.


Day 9: Namdapha NP to Digboi

Morning move to Digboi and check in at Digboi tourist lodge or oil field bunglow. Overnight.


Day 10: At Digboi

Full day at Digboi oil field reserve forest. Digboi oil field nature reserves around the world’s oldest operating oilfield in Eastern Assam harbour some interesting birds. This is the best place to see the Collared Treepie.

Overnight in Digboi.


Day 11: Digboi to Kaziranga National Park ( 6 hours drive)

Morning move to Kaziranga National Park situated in Central Assam. Home to the Great Indian one horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga National Park is one of the best parks in the world. With an area of 860 (after recent additions) of low lying grasslands, shallow waterbodies & woodlands this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Assam. Kaziranga is excellent for mammal viewing. The park recently celebrated 100 years of its protected area status. Till now, 490 species (25 of them globally threatened) of Birds have been recorded in Kaziranga NP.


Overnight in Kaziranga NP.


Day 12: At Kaziranga NP

Early morning Elephant safari. Post lunch Jeep safari in Western range. Overnight.


Day 13: At Kaziranga NP

Morning Jeep safari in Central range. Post lunch Jeep safari in Eastern range. Overnight.


Day 14: At Kaziranga NP

Morning Jeep safari in Eastern Range. Post lunch Jeep safari in Central range. Overnight.


Day 15: Kaziranga NP to Nameri NP (3 hours drive)

Morning move to Nameri NP. Check in at Eco camp or same. Nameri NP is the paradise for Bird watchers. Famous for White Winged Wood Duck, this covers an area of 217 sq kms and home of about 400 species of birds. Here 4 species of Hornbill, Hill Mynas, Barbets are found. Birding nearby to camp. Overnight.


Day 16: At Nameri NP

Full day birding inside the park. Overnight.


Day 17: At Nameri NP

Morning Rafting in the river Jia Bhoroli. Then again Jungle trekking inside the park. Overnight in Nameri NP.


Day 18: Nameri NP to Guwahati (6 hours drive)

Morning move to Guwahati, overnight in hotel.


Day 19: To Guwahati Airport

On this day as per flight schedule move to Guwahati Airport.
